Strip RTF formatting instructions from object text when writing to stream

Simple little problem (I hope).
When one uses the Export button on the History tab of the Module Properties dialog, one gets a nicely formatted plain text output, with From and To object text strings with no embedded RTF. When attempting to use dxl write this same history file object data to a stream, the embedded RTF insists on insinuating itself into the output. How can one restrict the output stream to plain text?

This chunk always includes embedded RTF.
if (h.attrName == "Object Text")
{
string oldV = h.oldValue
string newV = h.newValue
object_output << record_date0:7 " " record_date9:16 "\tSMAR" h.absNo "\t" oldV "\t" newV "\n"
}
thanks for looking,

Replace these two lines of code:

string oldV = h.oldValue
string newV = h.newValue

with the following.

string oldV = h.plainOldValue
string newV = h.plainNewValue

plainOldValue and plainNewValue are undocumented DXL functions - I've never understood why!

Many thanks Paul.
That did the trick (after I noticed I needed to make the first character of my original variable uppercase; though not clear why)
